Before they called Smokey ,played the band under different names like "Yen" . "Spinx" and " kindness". 1970 was the first record "lindy lou" by the band kindness. Singles like "let the good time roll" followed. 1973 Smokey got their new Manager Bill Hurley and began the work with Chinn and Chapman for the first LP ,most selfworked Material and got a record contract wit RAK 1974 the Band developed their own sound. Chris's voice was and is destinctive. To this time was changed the name to "Smokie". 1975 the first Album *Pass it arround "appeared and their first Hit " If you think you know how to love me" which followed still more. Who wouldn't know the songs like " Living next door to Alice" or "Lay back in the arms of someone" ? His first appearance without the band he had with "Stumblin in". Duett with Suzi Quatro. Smokie played to full Stadions and enjoyed the success worldwide. But always away from the Home and always to be under pressure shattered them. Begin of 80's Chris leaved the band and started to work at own projekts and to start a solo career. 1985 Smokie came together again for a benefiz Concert in memory for victim of the drama of Bradford. It became a success and they started a Tournee. End of 1985 Chris decided for his Solo career.
