Carlos was one of seven children and played already on his guitar in young years.1962 he moved to San Fransisco with his Family and played there in different local bands.     Middle of 1966 he formed together with friends the Santana Blues Band. Two years later they changed the name to "Santana" and were known for a big audience on the Woodstock festival 1969.  At the time they played without salary and were the discovery on the side of Joe Cocker. Santana climbed up very rapid. The first hit "Jingo" came out a short time after Woodstock. 1970 came out  "Evil ways" and was the first Top 10 Hit. In the same year appeared "Black Magic Woman" which should be the last success for longer time. I think  also title like "Oye como Va", "Aqua Marine" or "Samba Pa Ti"  had deserve to be hits. The most success had the band had with Albums. Santana had success , althought the members changed often, until the 90's. At the time played Calos together with great musicans  of Blues , Jazz and Rock Szene. 1989 Carlos was admitted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. One year later the Album "Supernatural" was published , which got 14 times Platin  on beginn  2001. For the Grammy awarding it got 10 nominations. February 2000 was a thriumph for Carlos. he was involved at 9 Grammys. My personally Hit is and will always be "Samba Pa Ti"...I love it !!!!
