Anthony , Mike, Tony & Peter went together on a exclusive  school.   The music was like a outlet to let go the monotony of the school.    In may 1965 Anthony & Mike foundated the band "Avon". Tony & Peter became  members to "garden Wall". After every schoolyear the bands were mixed new and "New Avon" came  . Foundated of the two bands.   Chris Stewart joined as drummer. With him, Anthony,Mike & Peter the ground for Genesis was builded. In September 1966 they recorded a demo tape and sent it to the former school friend Jonathan King ,who worked at DEKO-Rekords ,in Januar 1967.  He was fascinated and financed further demo tapes of them. He gaves the name "Genesis" to the band. In December 1967 they signed a contract.   At 22.2.1968 they published their first single "The silent sun" with the B-Site "That's me".  In may 1969 their first LP appeared. the disappointment was big, because Jonathan Kong mixed the songs with violins. It shouls had been sounding like Moddy Blues. The LP was sold only 650 times and today this LP , called "Blue mauritius" for fans and collectors, is a rarität.  In June 1969 all finished the school.  Silver left the band and John mayheur joined.  He was replaced through Phil Collins in 1970. When Anthony left the band Steve Hackett joined.   For a lot of fans is that the orginal formation.  Peter Gabriel  always  weared Masks and Make up because  he had very strong stage fright.   With it the band created a big stir.  1971 was builded a big fan - following. When they planned a start of  a tour , Peter broke his ankle and the tour was over for them. Therefore they recorded the Album   "Nursey Cryme"   in the Studio  which was the first hit in Italian later   .  Mai 1972 came out  the single  "Happy the man"  and October the Album "Foxtrot" which brought the first success. The 24 mi. long song "Supper's Ready" was a kind of Hymne of Live concerts. 1973 they started the first US Tour. In June was published  "Genesis live". A  bigger success was the LP  "Selling England by the pound".  January 1974 Genesis played in the  full Drury lane Theater in London at five evenings. The first single Hit they had with  "I know what I like". In November they startet the Worldtour .1975 Peter left the band and Phil joined  and took over the prat of the Leadsinger .For the fans it was unimagenable the Phil , the Drummer, took over the part of Peter. But the frightened of the fans was groundless . March 1976 "A trick of the tail"  was published  and with it the most  successful Album   . November 1976 started the work for the next Album   "Wind and Wuthering"  . But the band entered a state of crisis. Steve wasn't contented with the musical style of Genesis . In June he left the band.    Genesis was a Trio now and recorded 1978 the Album    "Then there were three ". When Phil left the band Ray Wilson joined and with him the new Album "Calling all Station".
